CALCIUM ALUMINATE MORTAR LINING

Raymond International has developed the application of calcium aluminate based products to waste water networks. This can be applied to new installations at the manufacturing plant, in-situ after the pipes have been laid or in a stack yard adjacent to the project prior to laying.

It is now proven that bacterial corrosion is one of the main causes of deterioration of sewerage networks, regardless of climatic conditions. Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) released by effluents is transformed into sulphuric acid by the bacterial micro-flora on the damp walls of the pipes.

Tests have demonstrated that calcium aluminate mortars and concretes are one of the rare materials that offer high durability in the presence of bacterial corrosion as well as providing resistance against abrasion, the other major cause of network deterioration. Tests have demonstrated this in internal linings of new pipes, mass concrete used for pipes, or in rehabilitation.

This system has proven very successful with the rehabilitation of existing sewer networks which have been subject to H2S attack.
